VENN ORIGINs

Jacky & Scott began VENN Wine Co. under the generous canopy of their family winery Young Inglewood Vineyards, in Saint Helena, Napa Valley, where they have been making wine together since 2007. The spirit has been simple from the start: study and apply classic, Old World winemaking techniques to the fruits of vineyards farmed with the best of modern viticulture. Make wines that speak to us about time & place and move us in the process. Put an honest thing on the table. Share & have fun.

Scott grew up learning wine from Jacky, who took special inspiration from the wave of organic and biodynamic producers out of France and Europe in the mid- & late nineties. Her dream to follow this thread brought our family to live on the fourteen acres we farm in an old benchland corner of Saint Helena. Organic practice, regenerative and low-input approaches drive our farming, while native fermentation, low intervention, and patience define our winemaking. Our wines are aged and/or bottled with minimal SO2 when necessary. Nothing else is added or taken away. Purity and liveliness are the aim.

VENN seeks to capture the intersection of old ways and the new times we find ourselves in.

Vineyards

Young Inglewood Vineyard

The Young family has been caring for this vineyard for a decade and a half. It’s an old alluvial vineyard site dating back to the 1870s where the vines were last replanted in 1997. Organic practice, regenerative farming and respect for the land mark our time here; gravel and loam define the soils. Split Y trellis. CCOF certified. Bordeaux varieties. Saint Helena AVA.

Dos a Dos Vineyard

A stone's throw from Young Inglewood, this site sits further out on the alluvial fan toward Rutherford. It was last replanted in 2002 and has also been farmed by the Youngs since they arrived in Saint Helena in 2007. The viticulture is also regenerative, organic practice. Interlocking S trellis system. Cabernet Sauvignon. Saint Helena AVA.

Linda Vista Vineyard

Farmed by expert wine grower and friend Steve Matthiasson in the Oak Knoll district of Napa Valley. Renowned for world class Chardonnay, the area benefits from the moderating influence of cooling winds from the San Pablo Bay, promoting acidity and freshness. The viticulture is regenerative, organic practice. Chardonnay. Oak Knoll AVA.

Pelkan RANCH Vineyard

This dramatic site sits atop the eastern ridge (1000' elevation) in the southwest corner of Knights Valley just over the Napa-Sonoma county line, looking across at Mount Saint Helena. Sprawling vines rooted in iron-rich, rock-laden soils guard acidity in the fruit. Sustainable viticulture. Sauvignon Blanc. Knights Valley AVA.
